SPY NIGERIA, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
A retired Superintendent of Police, Oke Mulero Olufemi, has petitioned the Accountant-General of the Federation over the alleged failure of the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS) to remit more than 55 months of pension contributions deducted from his salaries while he was in active service.
Olufemi, who said he retired from the Nigeria Police Force after 35 years of service, alleged that the missing contributions spanned several years between 2017 and 2024.
In a petition dated July 14, 2025, and addressed to the Accountant-General of the Federation, with attention to the Director of IPPIS, the retired police officer said he discovered the alleged non-remittances while processing his retirement benefits with NPF Pensions Limited.
According to him, he was invited by NPF Pensions to sign a consent letter for the processing of his retirement benefits when it was discovered that the balance in his Retirement Savings Account (RSA) was significantly lower than expected.
He said further investigation by NPF Pensions allegedly revealed that although pension deductions had been made from his monthly salaries, contributions covering more than 55 months had not been remitted by IPPIS into his RSA.
The retired officer identified the affected periods as May to December 2017; January to May and August 2018; January, October and November 2019; March 2020; January and March to December 2021; January to December 2022; January to December 2023; and January to October 2024.
Olufemi described the development as distressing, saying it had placed him under financial pressure at a time when he should be able to access his full retirement benefits.
“The situation has caused me significant distress and financial hardship, especially now that I have retired and need access to my full benefits,” he stated in the petition.
He maintained that he fulfilled his obligations while serving in the police and expressed disappointment that alleged administrative lapses could now affect his retirement benefits.
The retired officer said he attached his IPPIS enrolment slip, comprehensive RSA statements from NPF Pensions Limited and payslips showing monthly pension deductions to support his complaint.
He consequently asked the Accountant-General’s office to urgently investigate and reconcile the alleged outstanding remittances and ensure that all missing contributions are credited to his RSA without further delay.
“I respectfully appeal for your urgent interventions to investigate and reconcile the outstanding remittance listed above and remit all missing contributions to my RSA with NPF pensions Ltd without further delay,” the petition stated.
The petition was also copied to the Director-General of the National Pension Commission (PenCom).
The document does not contain a response from the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation, IPPIS, NPF Pensions Limited or PenCom to the allegations.
